Buy Domain Name 101

1. Make sure that the domain names you buy will bring profit to you. It doesn't matter whether you will build the webpage for it or not. Good domain names will pay for itself 100, 200, 300% or as many percent from the reg fee as you want from the parking alone, or from the domain re-sale.

2. There's no exact way of determining how much a domain name worth. But, an easy-to-remember, as short as possible, and contain keyword(s) (either verb, noun and pronoun) will have higher chance of being eyed by prospective buyers instead of short (<4 letters), unpronounceable, meaningless ones which are likely only change hands among the resellers (and not with high prices too, I might add).

3. After you check that the domain name (s) you desired are one of available domain names, you should check its background for bad reports issues in the past (spam, abuse etc) which you should avoid. I find that the below site do the task well.

4. Choose a well-reputed domain names registrar to register your domain names. This is to avoid dispute when, God forbid, your registrar is shutted down by ICANN (Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers) which happened now and then due to mismanagement.

5. Promote your domain. Join numerous forum about domaining. Create links that lead to your domain as many as you can. Put some efforts to make it has some traffic on daily basis (if you buy the right domain, the traffic will pour naturally). One visitor a day is much greater than the zero traffic one. That's it for now, good luck. Link
